A solo exhibit by: Ms. Sophia Domeville - “As an abstract expressionist, the basic fundamentals behind my work derive from everyday life, self-perception of society as a Haitian woman, and finding consistency within inconsistency. By using abstract painting, I develop a world filled with raw emotions. Underlines of self-doubt emerge as fear onto canvases, creating an unspoken dialogue between artist and viewer. As I dive back into my art, there are a number of feelings explored emotionally through the usage of both acrylic medium and intense brush strokes: Love, Death, Joy, Life, Chaos, and Identity. I tackle the Past, find sense within the Present and construct My Soliloquy of Chaos.”

“When I was a younger, art was a lonely thing; no galleries, no collectors, no critics, no money, yet it was a golden age…for we all had nothing to lose and a vision to gain. Today is not quite the same; it is a time of tons of verbiage, activity, and consumption…which condition is better for the world at large? I will not venture to discuss, but I do know that many of those who are driven to this life are desperately searching for those pockets of silence where we can root and grow. We must all hope we find them.” -ROTHKO
